Basics of Oil Painting 2

This workshop will explore further into the basics of oil painting by using Japanese Notan’s. Notan’s are a Japanese design technique which focuses on creating harmony between light and dark elements. They say colour gets all the glory, but values do all the work and it’s true! In this workshop you will learn how to use Notan’s to identify the light and dark areas and create a harmonious composition. You will choose from a variety of reference photos and learn how to use a Notan to help understand the value shapes which underlie every painting. This workshop will be a continuation of the first but can be open to anyone who has a basic knowledge of painting.
