Many folks may be familiar with the grand monuments of ancient Egypt: the Pyramids of Giza, statues of their pharaohs, and impressive temples honouring their gods. Yet, what can we learn about the people behind these creations and what do their lives reveal about the times in which they lived?

This engaging lecture brings to life the reigns of several well-known Egyptian rulers. From Narmer and the foundation of the Egyptian state to Khufu and his Great Pyramid at Giza, we will also meet Hatshepsut, who ruled while Thutmose III was too young, and Ramesses II, who engaged with the Hittites in a famous battle at Kadesh. We will draw together history and biography as we bring the world of these ancient Egyptians to life.
