The featured film this evening is They Shall Not Grow Old. Directed by Peter Jackson, this documentary uses restored, colourized, and stabilized archival footage from World War I to give a voice to the soldiers themselves. It removes the "grainy" distance of history, making the lives of WWI veterans feel immediate and human. It is profoundly respectful and immersive.
